We are so close to the finish line!

WH: Remember, you can choose which book you would like to complete your section on the growth of towns from! Journals are also due on Mon.

Gov't: Define your four types of local gov't. Read the section on different types of leadership in municipalities. You need to write an essay (including an intro and conclusion) that answers the questions which type is best and why? This will count as a quiz grade. Journals are also due! Only one more due after this! :)

You really need to work hard the next two weeks and end this semester with bang. I know you can do it! IMPRESS ME! :)

WH: Turn in late journals from Thanksgiving. Complete your Crusades Graphic Organizer if you did not finish in class. Don't forget to APPARTS your selection from the Children's Crusade! Complete the chart of results for the Crusades. What does each mean?

Gov't: You should have everything you need for the election in class by Wednesday. Also, make sure you complete the three branches of state gov't chart with the differences between the state and federal branches. Make sure journal entries are in journals as well.

Gov't--Complete Journal. Read 486-492 and do the terms for that section (all bold words). Create a pamphlet for your candidate--state their platform, background, etc. Be prepared to campaign in elementary classrooms on Monday. If you have posters, we will hang them up! (Especially Logan's group! You did not have posters for Monday the 9th due to Laurel's absence so have some ready! Also, if you did not complete your work in class, (pg. 479) it needs to be turned in as well.

WH--Read 364-369 and create a modern day Code of Chivalry. BE CREATIVE! Complete Journal entry. Read 379-381 and outline the section as you read. Finish your manor drawing.

BOTH CLASSES WILL HAVE QUIZZES ON FRIDAY (NOV. 20th) BEFORE WE COMPLETE OUR SERVICE DAY!

GOVT: Test on Friday! Judicial Branch. Study group meeting after school tomorrow in the gym if you are interested in coming! We will stay as long as you need! Test bonus: Bring in materials and research to make LARGE banners to be hung in the various areas of the school for your candidate.

WH: You should read the section on Charlemagne in the Bob Jones book. You need to create the cover for your story--title included. (Grade will be given for completing this!) You should have a good idea and notes concerning the plot of your book!

Hello History Students! I hope that you are enjoying your weekend.

WH: You need to come to class with DEADLINE #1 completed. (Your mock layout for the Islamic ppt.) Don't forget your journal and to have your flash drive with you. You cannot complete Deadline #2 without a saving device! We will meet in the computer lab to work on these for class.

GOVT: Each student must come in with a completed case research sheet for the Supreme Court. If you are having trouble please e-mail me ASAP! Your JOURNAL is due as well as a couple of posters to hang for your end of semester project.

Government: I checked and the research isn't on the blog for last assignment. This means you need to bring your research in on Wednesday. Also, put the finishing touches on your presidential cartoon, add the last 8 departments to your notes, and read 284-289--answer 1-5.

Don't forget Gov't Test on FRIDAY! VFW essays are also due, but you may turn those in Wed for extra credit. The essays are counted as a quiz grade.

DON'T FORGET!!

I hope you used the weekend to study for your tests--WORLD HISTORY AND GOVERNMENT!

After the tests we will be moving in different directions! In World History, you will have the opportunity to be the teacher. We will be discussing some early civilizations you might not know as well. This will give you a great opportunity to learn in a new way!

The Government class will have time to research their end of the semester project after the test. on Wednesday we will begin discussing the Executive Branch. This will be interesting!

World History: Tests must be signed by Monday! Don't forget! Also, read through the short section on the Punic Wars and answer the questions assigned. Journal is also due.

Government: Journals are due. Please have your House leadership completed. If you are still having issues finding them, consider googling their titles. For example, google Majority Leader, Majority Whip, etc. It pulls the information you need right up! Read through Ch. 5 Sec 5. There will be a fill in the blank quiz on Monday. You should also research your committee. Be prepared to share your findings with the class.

Don't forget to start working on your VFW papers. They are due on Oct. 23rd.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day Weekend!

As you know, there was not much to do over this holiday break. The World History class needs to be prepared for their review for their first written test to be given on Friday (11th). The Government class had no homework.

A bonus opportunity:

The information is prepared remarks from President Obama's Back to School Event scheduled for Tuesday in Arlington, Virginia. In three paragraphs, explain what the President is talking about, if you agree with his remarks (and why or why not), and your opinion on whether or not you think he should be addressing students (and why or why not). This assignment can take the place of any assignment you might not have turned in or missed (EXCEPT TESTS or QUIZZES!). This is due by Friday, Sept. 11th. This is open to World History or Government students.

World History: We are headed into the wonderful world of the Greeks! We have covered the geography, their early history, and mythology. Next, we move into Sparta and Athens.....what's a city-state anyway?

Government: The Constitution is so important to our everyday lives. It's time you actually know what it says. Will you believe in a strict or loose interpretation? It should be interesting to find out. Also, what are your rights? Is what you believe really constitutional?

Final Exam--Wed 5/20/09

Make yourself a map and label everything from previous tests on that one map. (One stop studying for your map!) As you review, if you have any questions--E-MAIL ME IMMEDIATELY. Don't forget! Your essays will be over the Discovery Newspaper and your Imperialism and Industrialism PPT. You decide which one you will answer once you see the questions on Wednesday.

You can still turn journals in on Wednesday.  You should also turn in the three sheets--WWII terms, Background on WWII, and Rise of Fascism.  You should also read 525-528/543-546. Answer the following essay question (PARAGRAPH FORM!!!!):
What were the results of WWI in Great Britian, France, and the U.S.?  How did the arts of the Disillusionment Era reflect these issues?  GIVE SPECIFIC EXAMPLES FOR BOTH.

I will be at school tomorrow to answer any questions you might have!  Don't forget that the due date for your year-end project has been pushed back one day--MAY 8th!

Well, we are done with WWI!  We will head off toward WWII.  Before we make it there, we will discuss what happens in between the two (the rise of various world powers and the Era of Disillusionment).  Stay tuned to the blog for more info!

Hey Everyone!  Just reminding everyone the test is Monday!  Here is a hint for followers of the blog!  

If you bring in your Gallipoli Campaign HW paper and hand it to me before the test is given, I will let you use it during the test.  DO NOT TELL ANYONE.  If I find out this has been leaked....or if someone brings it in who is not a FOLLOWER of the blog, no one will be able to use it!  Also, bring any EC points you might want to use.

4/22/09 Homework

Complete the topic sheets on U-Boats, Lusitania, Propaganda, and Russia Withdraws. Read pages 513-517 and take notes (any way you feel comfortable).  These notes will be used to get us throught the last section of the unit.  We will finish the unit on Friday and play our review game.  The WWI test will be on Monday.  We will also watch a short portion of All Quiet on the Western Front after the test!  DON'T FORGET!  If you are going to turn in the extra credit APPARTS, it is due on Friday.

Where we are headed....4/22/09

We will be getting into the US joining WWI on Wednesday. We have already discussed why the US was neutral during the first part of the war. Something is going to tick them off enough to join the Allied cause. What will it be?? Now remember, this is not WWII! Do your best not to combine what you know about WWII with what we are learning with WWI YET! If you have questions, you know where to reach me!

4/20/09 Homework

Don't forget! Complete the packet which includes trench warfare and the battles. Also, at max, a 10 sentence summary of the Gallipoli Campaign. Please use the necessary resources to find your information! This work is due on Wednesday. You also have an extra credit assignment (In Flanders Field). That is due on Friday if you want to try!

Monday 4/20/09--WWI
